Above is the link for tomorrow's meeting that will deal with both possessive pronouns and subjunctive relating to verbs of doubt, disbelief, and uncertainty. We will also talk about a painting assignment that is offered as extra points or may replace a bad grade. Since chapter 7 covers Haitian art, I always allow students to do a painting for extra points. There are only two requirements for the painting: It must be on a canvas and it must portray one of the many representatives of Haitian painting, which is to be found in the reading. Since the assignment is not due until May 14 or 15th, I will be sending students some videos on Haitian painting. In the meantime, students can go to YouTube to see some of them. Students some assignments on Subjunctive and culture on vhlcentral.
Tuesday, April 28
Do not forget that if you are going to create a painting, you will need to do the reading on Haitian painting. Late I will send you some video links via Remind101. We will meet again tomorrow at 10 to go over subjunctive part #3.

Students and Parents,
This notification is to inform you of the latest information released by the county regarding your child’s grade. As noted from the district communication, students have a choice to accept their grades as of March 13, 2020 as final grades for the 2019-2020 school year OR Continue to earn grades for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year to improve their grade(s). I want to clarify that if a student chooses not to participate, perform or actively engage with me and they do not take advantage of assignment opportunities, this will result in their final grade being the grade that they had on March 13th. The only way for the March 13th grade to improve is for the student to submit assignments and participate in the digital learning opportunities made available to your child by me.
I apologize in advance for the eventual emails or documents that either you and your child will be receiving as I am mandated by the district to continue to provide digital learning until the end of the school year.
Please feel free to contact me for any questions that you may have.

Dear parent,
Although I am late, I am excited to share some information with you and express my joy to be working with both parents this semester. To some other parents, this will be my introduction and an opportunity to get to know you. To parents whose children are new to my class, my main philosophy in teaching is to establish a relationship with both parents and students. I desire to make you a part of the class through my daily email briefings and events to which you will be invited. You can also reach me by email ([email protected]) or phone (678-779-6207) any time. As for your child, he/she will be taught, appreciated, respected, and cared for. As for his/her academic needs, I am always ready to offer tutoring both in the morning before and in the afternoon after school.
We will cover 4 units from the book “D’accord 2.” The first unit, which is to start next week, covers Technology. In the classroom students will get to learn by creating songs, skits, writing, reading, speaking, and listening. Authentic materials, such as newspapers, short documentaries, and literary documents will be used in class. There may be two to three projects assigned to students during the semester. In order to promote togetherness, we organize a Cultural Food Day on the last Friday of every month. During that time, we have the option of watching a movie, documentary, of students singing, playing an instrument or reciting a poem. This Food Day is normally organized by two students who are responsible for signing up their peers for both Food and activities.
The last point to cover is the phone although I must admit that students have been cooperative. However, it is worth communicating this to you now so there can be no misunderstanding in my enforcing the rule, noted in the following letter, about the phone:
Due to the new policy advanced by our World Languages Department here at Hillgrove High School, every student is required to place their phone in a classic numbered packet chart, which is located on the board in the classroom. As the teacher, I will not grab or touch the phone, instead the call will be made for students to go up and take their phones to the cellphone holder. If a student were to opt not to place his or her phone in the holder and the phone appeared later at any time during class time, such student will be given a warning. Also, once the phone has been placed into the phone holder, the student cannot remove it without the teacher’s permission. If there is a second violation, a detention will be assigned in my room for 30 minutes while a third violation will lead to an administrative referral. The procedure followed in the classroom will also be adopted in the computer lab.
You are to know that this intervention is purposeful as it is intended to help students concentrate in class and become more effective in their learning. If you have any questions, please feel free to write or call me (678-779-6207).

We reviewed the conjugation for the following verbs: Avoir, Etre, Aller, Faire, Prendre, and verbs ending in ER, IR, and RE. We also reviewed the futur proche and students practiced some dialogues. Please remind students to study for this Friday's conjugation test on the verbs aller, faire, avoir, etre, and prendre.

After today's warm up, we reviewed the futur simple, futur proche, and passé composé. As part of the cultural learning, students read about "La galette des rois" which is the equivalent of "the King's cake." Students also continued to work in pairs to complete their 3 futur proche questions. Students then asked and answered each other's questions. Tomorrow we will continue to learn about the passé composé and object pronouns. Please continue to remind your child about Friday's 5 conjugation verbs test.
Wednesday, January 8
After today's warm up, students continued to review the simple future, immediate future, and perfect tense. For additional practice of both the simple future and perfect tense, students work in pairs to create a dialogue containing questions using those two tenses. Yesterday students created a dialogue using the immediate future. Tomorrow we will review reflexive verbs and the negative with the perfect tense. Please continue to remind your child about studying for Friday's conjugation 5 verbs (Avoir, Aller, Etre, Faire, Prendre) test. Besides conjugating the verbs, students will need to provide the English for each verb. Students were provided with a list of irregular verbs with their past participles. There will be a test next Week, Wednesday when students will need to provide me with the past participle of these irregular verbs.
Thursday, January 9
After today's warm up, students took notes on both reflexive verbs and object pronouns (direct and indirect object pronouns). Students also learned how to use the negative in a sentence with both an object pronoun and a perfect tense. Later students divided into their respective group to complete the dialogue using the simple future and perfect tense with both avoir and etre. Students also used the computers to practice for tomorrow's verbs (Avoir, Etre, Aller, Faire, Prendre) test.
Friday, January 10
I apologize for having to send this information late. However, I wanted to inform you that students, after today's warm up, took the 5 conjugation verbs test. After the test, students spent time working in pairs to practice their dialogue. Students also practiced a dictation (spelling) activity in order to help them improve their listening skills. I would also like to share that there will two important activities next week: There will be an irregular past participle verbs test on which students will be providing the past participle for each given infinitive. Also, students will handed a rubric while working either individually or in pairs to prepare a given topic or two. The purpose of this is to ensure that they understand all the lessons that I have reviewed in class. When a group is teaching, the rest of the class will be taking notes as that is part of the overall grade. Groups will have two days, Wednesday and Thursday to prepare the lesson to teach. The presentation/teaching will take place on Friday. I have been going fast in reviewing the lessons; however, students are welcome to come to tutoring either before or after school.
