Although I was absent today, I left work on the board that would help students review for the retake of last Friday's subjunctive test. My plan was to give the retake tomorrow. However, I am choosing to give it instead on Wednesday so as to allow some students the opportunity to come for tutoring tomorrow morning, afternoon, and Wednesday morning.

Today students were handed back their writing composition from last Friday in order to make the necessary corrections. Students were also given a sheet with codes for writing as they used these codes to make the corrections. After turning in their corrected sheet, students visited www.vhlcentral.com to both practice their listening skills by listening to an interview and gain more knowledge on the unit topic Love & Friendship. Students are to complete their vhlcentral assignment as homework and also continue to read "The legend of Tristan & Iseult after several students had already started reading the classroom. There is a last vocabulary test on the unit on Thursday.

Monday, Sept 9
Today, after the warm up, students took the interrogative pronouns test. After the test, students were given the poem "Pour toi mon amour," written by Jacques Prévert. Students are to analyze and interpret the poem before sharing their thoughts with the rest of the class tomorrow. Each group is given a stanza to analyze and interpret. They are to answer the 7 questions from "Après la lecture." Each student will student so as to be able to recite the poem on Wednesday.

After today's warm up, students worked on answering comprehension questions from their French poem and then interpret it. Prior to these activities, students listened to their poem being recited by some professional readers. Students also spent time practicing their poem to be recited on Friday. Please encourage your child to study the poem.

Wednesday, Sept 11
Today, after reviewing interrogative and relative pronouns, students took time to share their interpretation of their poem. They also learned some phonemes in order to know how to properly pronounce the poem lines prior to practicing. Tomorrow students will be ready to recite their lines.

Thursday, Sept 12
Today was the recitation of poems for both French 4 and 5. Students did a wonderful job of studying and memorizing the verses. The only thing lacking was enough displayed emotion from some students in reciting the poems. French 4 recited "Il pleure dans mon coeur" while French 5 recited "Pour Toi Mon Amour."
French 5 students are to study for tomorrow's vocabulary test.

After today's warm up, two groups completed their presentation of the poem. After the presentations, students worked on writing. They went on to write a letter based on the topic of the unit.

After today's warm up, students participated in a vocabulary game activity in which they provided the French vocab version to the English version. Students later, for the purpose of practicing their oral skills, participated in an activity in which they answered questions in French asked by their partner in French. For further oral practice, students divided into their respective group to prepare a dialogue based on the unit. For homework, students are to read an assigned article and find as many grammar points.
